Holy **** I just about cried when I found out Bauhaus is coming back to San Diego in August; I can't wait. >:D I'd really love to hear "Who Killed Mr. Moonlight" played, it's my favorite.

When you come to Golden Hall, i would request that you play the song 'Mask' because i think that that is a great song, my favorite song at that, and i hope to attend the concert. Thanks

I'm posting this a little late (only four months after the SD show!), but just wanted to share that Bauhaus was fantastic in San Diego and the show was well-produced. It was nice to see so many people at the show, considering there wasn't a whole lot of radio, etc., publicity. It was also nice to see more gothic people (young and old) out and about. The show ended early (by 10 p.m.), but was worth every minute. This has been one of my dreams fulfilled--to see one of my favorite bands play live and play WELL! The singing, music and atmosphere were wonderful. Bravo to Peter, David, Daniel and Kevin. I can't wait for the rumored cd release and hopefully there will be another "reunion" tour this year!

I'll write a full review later. I have one written that I have to type (it's written in blood at the moment, heh heh). My only comment while looking through some of these reviews is, "What were you doing paying so much attention to the crowd?" Some dumb girl right next to me (13th row floor) almost passed out, but the only reason I even noticed was because she almost fell on me as her boyfriend led her junkie ass past me. I have been waiting since I was 14 to see this show, and from the moment I got there to several days after it was over, my mouth was agape, and I couldn't believe that it A. Was going to happen B. Was actually happening C. Had actually happened. My friends and I used to play cruel jokes on each other in the early 90's, one of us would say "Hey, did you hear about Bauhaus' reuinion tour?" and the other would say, "No way!! Really?!?!!" and then when we both were in on the joke, we'd pout about the fact that one of the greatest bands of all time was just being "difficult" and didn't want to play nice with each other. Well, I finally got a chance to see them, and if I looked like I had a blank look on my face it was because it was one part disbelief, one part awe, one part fear, and one part ecstacy. And I never took my eyes off the stage.

All I can say about the show last week is if you weren't there , you missed out on an opportunity of a lifetime! To be able to see Bauhaus live is an experience that one will never forget. Yes, it was disappointing to see many people on the floor (we were in the eleventh row) just standing around looking as though they'd rather be somewhere else, but so what! Their lack of enthusiasm did not deter my sister and myself from witnessing one of the best concerts of a lifetime. It appeared as though these particular people were more concerned about portraying the ultimate Goth image than letting themselves have a great time. Anyways, the music was intoxicating and hypnotic and I found myself closing my eyes every so often in an attempt to have it permeate every part of my body and soul. Peter was good, but seems to have lost some of his youthful energy as displayed in a concert I have of them on video from the early eighties. As far as Daniel is concerned, to see and hear him play guitar is spectacular and mesmerizing. I don't think there is anyone out there who can manipulate an instrument the way he can. David and Kevin played just as well , although I feel they don't get enough recognition for their part in this band. Enough said. If you have the opportunity to see these guys, DO NOT pass it up!

It was definitely "SHUT THE FUCK UP." My wife and I were completely sober and I must say, Bauhaus put on an excellent performance. I don't think you have to be standing and making noise the entire time to appreciate the show. In fact, when I attended the Dead Can Dance concert 3 years ago at Universal Ampitheatre, Brendon Perry was noticeably and understandably pissed at the crowd. Why? Because of a particularly unsophisticated group of idiots who wouldn't "shut the fuck up" during the performance. There is a time to show thanks for the band and that is when they are DONE playing. Thank you. [Making a hasty decent from the soapbox. . .]

I attended the San Diego show, and I would have to agree that the majority of the crowd was somewhat sedate. I was in the first row, and even before "Double Dare" began, I was standing, anticipating the presence of the proverbial "GOTH GODS"...however, to my suprise, as they began, most of the others in the front were still sitting on their collective arses! In regards to what Peter mouthed to the front row, it was directed at this guy that was laughing, and making all these obnoxious comments to the band during one of the songs...he said "SHUT THE FUCK UP"...needless to say, the guy was embarrassed and did just that for the reaminder of the show. Anyways, the show was great, see you in Irvine!

I missed the LA shows, so I HAD to see my boys in SD. After hearing how filled with enthusiasm the LA audiences were, I expected those flimsy chairs at Golden Hall to be ripped up and chaos to ensue. Well, as we all know, it was a very sedate crowd. But, I was stuck in the balcony, so I just sat there, looking cutely goth and singing along to my heart's content. I wasn't gonna let the conservative SD crowd ruin my chance of a lifetime -- because B A U H A U S was incredible, weren't they? So good, in fact, that I'm flying to Cleveland for that show -- and I'm stuck in balcony again. And I don't care one bit, because to hear Peter's beautiful voice and to experience the texture of Daniel Ash's guitar work, and JUST TO BLOODY BE THERE!!! I mean, isn't that what it's all about? Anyways, SD isn't usually interested in participating in a show, unless it's reggae... (at least that was my impression when I lived there....). See ya in Cleveland....

In response to A....you stand up because, from the second row, we could clearly see Pete mouth the words "stand the f*** up" (or something to that effect). By all means enjoy the show but sitting like zombies through the performance seems insulting to me. Live shows are all about excitement and standing and showing your appreciation. If you wanted to sit, relax, and appreciate the music comfortably, why not stay home and listen to a cd instead of coming to the show?

in answer to thomas'question over concern to audience response, even members of the crew remarked at the lack of response compared to the other nights. now the import of this to us is the better the reaction, the more likely the next encore. i really wanted to hear spirit or mask again, and would have liked to have heard burning, but then encore two went into bela and all such hopes ended. did no one learn anything from new orleans not getting an encore during the sweet f.a. tour? so, for anyone planning on seeing them at uci,... please be ready to applaud 'til a few minutes after the lights have gone up.

It should'nt matter much to others. If the band does'nt see the crowds enthusiasm as "lacking", why does every "goth-plebe" Bauhaus groupie give a shit how the crowd responds. I was 6 rows back on Daniel Ashes' side of the stage. I stood the whole time and was fairly much in awe of how well a show was delivered to all attending. The "theatrics" that Peter Murphy performs with are something rarely, if ever, seen in this day and age. To watch him carefully, there is something to appreciate of how a singer such as him, can take his music to another level by delivering the songs to the audience in some kind of hypnotic, mesmerizing way. The set list was the songs I would suspect to hear of a Bauhaus reunion but by no way did I expect anything less than the brilliance that was emulated from the stage that night. BAUHAUS are too much an "art/theatrics" band to have an audiences reaction interrupt what's happening up on stage. "Kudos" to all those in attendace. We're the lucky ones. For those who have yet another chance to see them, DO NOT MISS!!! Come early and be there for the opening of Double Dare and DON'T take your eyes off the monitor. That, my friends, is true showmanship! TR SUPERSTAR

I can't agree more with that last comment. I wasn't at the show, but I do enjoy actually getting to sit back and watch a show instead of having to push away bunches of imbeciles flailing about. Why go see a band if you aren't even going to pay attention to them, and instead occupy yourself with running into the nearest audience member. Applause at the end of a song is most definatly ample as long as there is plenty of it. I know if I were a performer I would be much more flattered by a captivated audience soaking in the music than a having them jump around like asses.

while applause really was deficient during the show, the sitting of the first several rows can easily be explained to those of you who haven't thought this one out. from the seats in question, we could see everything perfectly well while sitting down. up until the encore at any rate. so why stand? we came to appreciate a band's performance, we didn't go to a nightclub. sitting and then applauding should have been perfectly acceptable...same principle as an early music or classical concert in that way. some of you may also have noticed how many of us were about 6ft? did anyone also happen to notice that many of those to our side (or at least on the side by david, where i was) and behind were barely over 5ft? were we to have stood, we would be needlessly obstructing the views of others who paid their money just as we did. does anyone who sat in row f want to complain that they saw the more than the band's chests up for a change? by all means enjoy the shows, but please try to remember there are others around you who came to watch a show, not get body surfed, torn clothes, and missing contacts, as per usual at our LA shows. though audience response was weak, i did greatly prefer the civility displayed at goldenhall to the rioutous behaviour of the palladium shows.

Golden Hall is one of the most hostile venues I have ever experienced. I was constantly harassed by hordes of asshole guards for NO REASON! And people watching Bauhaus sitting down??? What's up with that??? Right in front of the stage?? Having experienced all 4 LA shows w/ increasingly ecstatic audiences, I can only say I felt bad for the boys. But they kicked ass despite the adverse setting. "She's in Parties" is getting harder and harder and harder and harder ... "Jamming" alone was worth the drive from LA! Dub Syndicate should hear "Bela"!!! See ya in Irvine, it'll be divine.

Great show at Golden Hall but the crowd blew donkeys! What was up with the morons in the first five rows of the center section? Get a clue folks, when you get a show like this its often considered polite to show some f***ing enthusiasm (persons in wheelchairs excluded of course). This was probably due to the reserved seating, 'cause the L.A. show rocked (and so will Irvine). Other than that the show was fabulous, it looked like Pete and the gang were having alot of fun. See you all in Irvine!

Aaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!! What can I say? Bauhaus in San Diego...it was one of the best days of my life! Parking was a bitch, but once I stepped outsided of the parking garage and saw the crowd of people waiting to get in I knew I was in for a good time. Around 7 the doors opened and we were allowed to enter Golden Hall(which I had no idea how beautiful it was and how small!)Stood in the lobby for about 10 min. or so and then the doors to the floor were opened and in we went. Finally found my seat(what was up w/ the seats?) and chatted w/ my friend for about an hour or more til the show started. Lights went down and a strange buzzing sound came out of the speakers and then out came Daniel,David, and Kevin...as the opening chords to "Double Dare" played Peter was revelled on a tv screen in black and white. I have to say the crowd wasn't cheering as much as I had hoped until the second song started and Peter walked on stage.(It was plainly obvious who everyone's fave was, but come on am I the only one who was cheering for the other 3 members?) Well anyways, the concert was absolutley beautiful everything they played sounded great...even the Dead Can Dance cover. Here's some of my personal highlights from the show: 1."Double Dare"- it just rocked 2.when Daniel picked up the saxaphone during "In Fear of Fear"- he was SO cute when he turned his back to us and did this little dance across the stage while playing the saxaphone(If you were there you know what I'm talking about:)3.Everything Daniel did- obviously he's my fave 4.the first encore of "Telegram Sam" and "Ziggy Startdust"-I swear everyone was standing w/ their arms crossed the whole time until the 1st encore, don't ask me why 4.Actually seeing Kevin for about 10 seconds after "Bela" when he came out from behind the drums to say goodnite and shake peoples hands in the front row (I'm so jealous of you guys!)- Kevin, I'd like to be able to see you more next time. Here's a list of the things that made me laugh: 1. when Peter came out w/ a mirror and looked at himself in it 2.when day did this little "nah nah nah nah" gesture with his hands on the side of his head- that was classic 3.when Danny was rolling on the floor w/ his guitar during "Bela"- I had no idea where he went until I saw his head pop up every once in a while 4.when the check guy came out and everyone started cheering because they thought it was a member of the band- classic 5.Finally,when Peter played that little piano around his neck- just what was that thing? I could go on and on forever... but I think that will do... Thank you Peter, Daniel, Kevin, and David for such an enjoyable day.

14 years waiting and it was ... AWESOME! The best live act I have seen in ages! The audience was disappointingly quiet, at least compared to the European ones. The fact that all seating was reserved and there was no room for dancing didn't help. But the band! Bauhaus at their best. Sanity Assassin was my favorite, last night. And Peter Murphy's acting in Hollow Hills...! Thank you Danny, David, Kevin and Peter!!!!!

I went to the San Diego show and it was great. Peter was awesome and Daniel was on fire. They had a great set and the live version of "Ziggy Stardust" was even better than the record. All in all it was the best concerts i have ever seen.

I had no idea that the crowd in San Diego would be so young and so quiet. I felt REALLY old. Having said that, hearing Peter sing lines from "Jamming" from Marley and the Wailers during She's in Parties was one of the funniest and most unexpected pieces of homage I've seen in quite some time.
