The Bauhaus Show, tonight, was more wonderful than I expected. I did feel sorry for the HOB security, they had to metal detect everybody going in. Some of us had so much metal on us it's a wonder the show ever got started! ;-). The House was packed full, really I think it was sold out before the show started. Peter Murphy's voice was strong as ever. Daniel Ash was enchanting to watch play, especially in Hollow Hills where he played an electric guitar with a violin bow. David J & Kevin Haskins continued their fine musicianship with another great performance. They pretty much went through everyone's favorites, and I don't believe a person left disappointed. When I walked out into the open air after the show, I was greeted with the welcoming aroma of cloves in such quantity as I can not remember. Great band, good people, and pleasant memories, it truly was an awesome show.

I emphatically agree. I found the show was immensely satisfying. The chest shaking intro worked nicely as anticipation segued into Burning from the Inside. I certainly can understand some of the prior peculiarities discussed about Mr. Murphy's presence but he sand wonderfully. If you think of the origins and performances of years ago it's not quite so unusual that he was not upstaging the other members in the sense of covering as much stage real estate as the others. David J is truly an under appreciated bass player, he and Kevin Haskins thumped and pounded with clarity. Daniel Ash is the consummate rocker and his licks were sharp. Simply put this show rocked and collectively whether it's the Bauhaus nucleus we all love or Love & Rockets these cats create some of the finest music to don a black t-shirt and dance to the sound of our counter culture. Can you hear me Simpson sisters??

went to HOB last night for the show, great show!!
Daniel Ash played with the violin bow on hollow hills and was as sexy as i remember him in the 80s.
the rest of the gang was perfect, if you have the time go see this show. you will walk out wanting to go home and play the albums.

 I had wondered about how metal detectors would go crazy at all the buckles and chains and piercings that a Bauhaus crowd would be sporting. Glad to hear it was a good show, do you have a setlist by any chance?

Last night's show was awesome. Reading all of the "Peter is sick", "Peter has no energy" posts had me a bit worried. Though honestly, Peter could have sat on the stage and sang the entire thing w/o ever moving and I would have been thrilled. He may not have danced around the stage like he did in '98 or at Coachella, but his voice never waivered. It was as strong and pounding and beautiful as ever!
After the show I was blessed enough to get the chance to met Peter for a brief moment as I took a pic of him and my 9 yr old daughter together ( he kissed her cheek and I swear everyone w/n 20 feet "awwwed" lol), thanked him for a great show while shaking his hand and because I couldn't resist, kissed his hand before letting go. <refraining from gushing like a schoolgirl <G> Stephanie and I also met Kevin and I snapped a pic of them together as well. I will try and upload the pics I took.
Definitely a must see!

Renee

Awww...Stephanie is cooler than most grown-ups I know.

Other girls are going to hate her by the time she makes it to highschool. ;-) Cute pictures.

Awww, that is a lovely pic. Any chance you'll be uploading it to the Roll Call pages anytime soon? :D

Sounds like he got better.

Stephanie is so beautiful in her fur cape! Is she the one who was riding the big dragonfly in the Coachella art festival? I think I remember you said you took her there and there are so many pics of her online now, I think just about everyone who went to Coachella took pictures of her!

just to let everyone know, i talked to david briefly after the show. (sending peter out was an excellent diversionary tactic.) when i asked him how he was, he said that he was very sick. he was sniffling a lot and looked like he was burning up. and he put on such an energetic show, you never would have guessed. it just boggles my mind.

see, even more of a reason why he's my favorite musician.

One of the best shows I have seen, of any group— it was amazing to get the opportunity, in 2005 to see Bauhaus-- I got the feeling of seeing one of the truly great bands of any time. Amazing musicians, so many layers and nothing else quite like it. Peter did seem ‘laid-back’ (especially in comparison to when I saw him at HOB a few months ago on his solo tour) but hard to tell why, and at any rate, his voice was great. Daniel Ash lent a real ‘spark’ to the show. I don’t know if I’ll get the chance to see them again so it was something to savor. Hearing the ‘old’ songs played live brings them right back to life. Being in the company of folks who appreciate such music was something to remember too. For instance, how many of us who might have been teenagers in 1985 would have dared to hope that in 2005, we’d be able to see Bauhaus perform together? And still be really, really good? Staying power—theirs, and ours.

Oh no, Sadie, now David is sick too? :( All of them need that 8 or 9 day break in some warm California sun to rest up for the last 4 shows.

I guess I was too close to the stage, 'cause I've been sick since the day after I saw them! ;)
