Friday September 14, 2001
On Tuesday September 11, 2001, 4 planes were hijacked in the United
States. 2 of them were flown into the World Trade Centers in New York
City, causing the highest structures, the Twin Towers, to collapse,
which then created a domino effect by other buildings to collapse.
The 3rd plane was flown into the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., creating
a gash in the building that was thought to be inpenetrable. The 4th
plane crashed in remote Pennsylvania, and believed to have be destined
for the White House or Air Force One.
Together, these acts of terrorism in a matter of a few hours killed,
at very the least, over 5,000 people. There are believed to be some
people alive, even several days later, under the rubble of the World
Trade Center. There are no hope for any more survivors at the Pentagon
and all passengers aboard the plane that crashed in Pennsylvania are
believed to have perished.
People all over the world, not just in the United States, are feeling
the impact of this atrocity. It will take weeks, if not months to
find the victims, clear the debris and restore what was once life
before this devastating acts of violence. No matter where in the world
you are, please help by donating to the American
Red Cross to assist in this endeavor in restoring help and supplies
to the relief workers. Even if it's just a few dollars, that will
help. Your company may also match your contribution to the Red
Cross - check with the Community Relations Department to see if
they do. Here is a list
of other organizations you can also help with your contributions.
Even if you did not know someone that perished or was present at the
time of these accidents, through the community of the Internet, it
is likely you may know someone who was a friend or a relative of the
victims. For them, do your part and help however you can.
