Also, if you didn't read the last newsletter carefully enough, you
may want to go back and peruse the bottom of the newsletter - an infamous
technophobe will make his presence known on Bauhausmusik in the upcoming
weeks... Stay tuned for more fun and games.

To celebrate the 20th. Anniversary of 'Bela's
Dead' and the new release of 'Gotham'
On Sunday October 31st. 1999, a Bauhaus Convention (the first ever!)
will take place at the Gladstone Hotel, Lord Nelson Street, Liverpool,
England. The venue is a 2 minute walk from the main train station
and 3 minutes from the main bus station in Liverpool. Parking is
also available at the hotel. Accommodation can be arranged if necessaary
for the night before or after the event.
A charge of £3 will be made at the door to cover the cost of the
hall and advertising. Fifty framed items will be on display along
with an exhibition of around forty posters. The items on display
will be mostly extremely rare (autographed items, acetates, award
discs, foreign releases...etc). RARE Bauhaus video footage will
also be played. Free BELA ANNIVERSARY Bau-goodies will be given
to all attendees and there will no doubt be a few surprises in typical
spontaneous Bauhaus fashion!

A
message from the drummer:
Kevin and David will be treading the boards once again, (you can't
keep a good rhythm section down!) with none other than The Jazz
Butcher. Due to popular demand, The Jazz Butcher, along with original
partners in crime, Max Eider and Owen Jones will be doing a mini
tour of North America in September. It appears as though each person
involved will be performing a few solo numbers, and for the big
finale, will come together as the Jazz Butcher Group to bang out
such classics as Partytime, Just like Betty Page, Girls Who Keep
Goldfish, Bigfoot Motel, Take The Skinheads Bowling and of course
The Jazz Butcher Meets Count Dracula!
For those of you who have recently just crawled out from under the
proverbial rock, The Jazz Butcher grew out of the same disturbed,
small town culture of Northampton, that also spawned Bauhaus. As
big JB admirers, both Kevin and David played on various releases,
and David actually "joined" the group whilst Daniel and Kevin were
involved with Tones On Tail.
In consideration of public safety, these are definitely "one off
events" and should not be missed! The dates (subject to change)
are as follows:
Thursday 9th September -Troubadour, Los Angeles, CA
Saturday 11th September - The Great American Music Hall, San Francisco,
CA
Monday 13th September - Pan, Portland, OR
Wednesday 15th September - Crocodile Cafe, Seattle, WA
Thursday 23rd September - Wetlands, New York, NY
It is not confirmed that Kevin and David will be playing at all
of the shows, so if this is of concern to you, it is best to check
with the promoter or venue. [Ed. note: David will be at the LA show
only]
