Several weeks
ago we told you that there would be another opportunity to win an
autographed copy of Gotham, just by doing a hunt on the site for
Danny and attached appendages. The opportunity has now arisen and
time to search for Danny's most valuable possession... email telegram-sam@bauhausmusik.com
when you've finished your search to see if you're the lucky winner
of Gotham!
Also, the Bauhaus
convention is coming up next week on October 31st, and Gotham will
be available a week earlier there. An original neon Bauhaus sign
(7 feet tall!) used from the original shows will be raffled off

METROPOLIS
RECORDS TO RELEASE BAUHAUS' GOTHAM ON NOVEMBER 9, 1999
THIS NEW LIVE 2-DISC SET DOCUMENTS BAUHAUS' HIGHLY ACCLAIMED 1998
RESURRECTION TOUR
In 1998, fifteen
years after the legendary British rock group Bauhaus abruptly disbanded,
the four original members agreed to play together once again. During
last year's revered "Resurrection Tour", Bauhaus played to packed
theatres all over North America and throughout the World.
In November 1999, Metropolis Records presents Gotham, a live double
CD and video which was recorded at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New
York during the Resurrection Tour. With it's aptly 'tongue in cheek'
title, Gotham features 17 live songs carefully selected from their
catalog, such as their cult classic "Bela Lugosi's Dead". Other
favorites performed include "Kick in the Eye", "In Fear of Fear
"& "She's In Parties", as well as their two best known cover songs,
David Bowie's "Ziggy Stardust" & T.Rex's "Telegram Sam".
This release is also significant as it contains the notable landmark
of the first studio recording by Bauhaus in over 16 years. Recorded
during the tour last year, "Severance" is the bands own rendition
of the Dead Can Dance song and is without question evidence of the
energy at work within Bauhaus.
Gotham reunites the original line-up of Peter Murphy, Daniel Ash,
David J and Kevin Haskins for the first time since their split.
Like so many pivotal groups, Bauhaus has proved more popular after
its break-up than during its brief existence (1979-83). In that
short time, the group single-handedly defined the gothic music genre
and created a blue-print for many bands to come (influence has been
acknowledged by the Smashing Pumpkins, Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn
Manson). The four members have carried on to much acclaim in a number
of other incarnations including Tones on Tail, Love and Rockets
and Peter Murphy solo.
When they first burst on to the scene, Bauhaus quickly became synonymous
with high octane performances and were well known for a healthy
dose of theatrics in their live shows. Drawing on stark minimalism
to enhance the mood and combining electronics with razor sharp guitars
to form the perfect back drop to Murphy's dark and haunting vocals,
they were an epic come to life. Due to the massive anticipation
and excitement going into Bauhaus'Õ first tour in 15 years, there
was intense pressure for Bauhaus to live up to their reputation
and their legend. Could Bauhaus be as clever and as vital as they
were 15 years ago? Could Bauhaus retain their title as the forefathers
of dark rock? Not only did they meet those expectations, they effortlessly
blew past them!
This double live set historically documents The Resurrection 1998
Tour which was lauded by critics all over the world. It is not only
a must for Bauhaus fans but is also a treat for any discerning music
enthusiast. The band's powerful presence, their dramatic flair,
their unbridled energy and talent are all captured in Gotham.

Another single that never happened was God
In An Alcove and Boys. The sleeve was designed by David and it was
meant to be a double a side single release. Alas, God In An Alcove
followed Silent Hedges into never never land and never was released
as an official single. You can see the original design for the sleeve
in David's room.
Also, the Japanese release of Gotham has been pushed back to November
3rd. The European and US release will be out the following week
on November 8th and 9th, respectively. Pre-order information will
go up very shortly!
