30 Laura
emailed me to remind me that the name of the Irish
melody Peter sang in Irvine
is called "Maids When You're Young." You can find
the lyrics at this chivalric
site. And even more people had to point out to me
(I'm starting to be convinced I was at a different
show for not noticing!) that Peter sang a few
verses of David Bowie's Lady Stardust during
She's In Parties.
In
the upcoming days, I'll be adding more pictures (my
own!) for New
York
and Irvine,
reviews, etc. If you've got reviews for the US
shows to be added (or need to remind me to put
yours up), email me to do so.
Also,
a slight follow up to the Bela mispressings
- Dark Entries is still the second song on
the mispressed cds, so it's just the first and
third songs that are reversed.
SEPTEMBER
28 Home
finally and totally, completely knackered (no one
to blame but me for not getting to sleep until 5 am
Saturday morning)... the Irvine
show was a great way to close out the US leg of the
Resurrection tour - with the band joining in to
sing the Irish song (still can't recall what it is)
dedicated to Peter's sis Daphne. The band is
getting geared up for the next part of the tour,
which begins in Mexico
City
SonicNet
will be showing the webcasts from the first
New
York
show today at 9 pm EST. Tomorrow, they will show
the second New
York
at the same time. You'll need RealPlayer to see the
show (and of course be prepared for seconds of no
visible images).
Finally,
collectors out there will be interested to know
that the first 1,000 pressings of the signed
limited edition Bela Lugosi's Dead CD being
sold on tour were mispressed. The play order on CDs
numbered 1 through 1000 has Boys followed by
Bela Lugosi's Dead, whereas the
correct order should have been Bela Lugosi's
Dead followed by Boys. The CDs were sold
on the tour in no specific order (but they're all
sold out) so if you were one of the lucky ones to
get an edition numbered in the first thousand,
expect it to be worth more than the $25 you paid
for it.

Assistant Reporting
Last night at Irvine
was the final show of the US tour, and the boys
pulled out a couple of suprises for the set list.
Peter performed an Irish folk song to begin the
second encore, and then, for good measure, played
about a minute of Three Shadows in the final
encore. More news from Samantha after she returns
from her trip.
In
other concert news, a second show has been added in
London at the Brixton
Academy
on November 8th. Tickets are already on sale for
£15.
SEPTEMBER
24 We
have a new addition to the site - if you take a
peek to your left, you'll see that you can now view
the Undertaker's
Journal.
There's four listings at the moment, and it will be
continually updated, provided that the Undertaker
doesn't get too busy playing around in the
graveyard.
CDNow
is automatically taking $5.00 off any purchase
until September 30, in addition to their 30%
storewide sale so if you haven't purchased
Crackle yet, it's time to do so.
Don't
forget that Irvine
is the very last US show of the tour. I'll be
attending the show, so see you there.
SEPTEMBER
23 Rocktropolis
reports that DJ Keoki remixed the title track of
Lift and that Danny "is returning the favor
by taking part in a project that Keoki is
orchestrating called International Crisis -- an
intended supergroup for the year 2000 modeled on
George Clinton's Parliament-Funkadelic." Does this
mean that Danny will start wearing star-shaped
sunglasses and will be seen in impromptu jams with
Bootsy Collins?
SEPTEMBER
22 Raven
Mae
has sent in a different sort of a review - an
elegiac poem of the Boston
show.
SEPTEMBER
21 Last
night's performance in New
Orleans
was unusual in that Bauhaus played Ziggy
Stardust twice - I guess the kids couldn't kill
the band the first time around.
For
those of you in the Lyon, France area, Beyhan
Murphy (Peter's wife) is the artistic director of
the Modern Dance Company of Turkey and there will
be two performances by them tomorrow and Wednesday
in the Lyon Dance Biennale at T.N.P - 5 place
Lazare-Goujon in Lyon. The shows are at 20.30 and
19.30, respectively and tickets are 80 and 120 F.
There will also be some German dates in October...
we'll keep you informed!
SEPTEMBER
20 99X,
Atlanta radio station, has a short interview
clip with Peter Murphy that you can listen to via
Real Audio.

Jewels'
review of the second New
York
show - I think we have yet another captivated
victim of Bauhaus...!
SEPTEMBER
19 In
the October issue of Detour magazine there
is a brief article and interview with Bauhaus, but
the great part is the fantastic group photo,
probably the best I've seen so far. The ISSN number
is 25274 73971. You can also be titillated by the
front cover picture of Liz Hurley, if she's your
bag, baby.
In
the German magzine Zillo, there is an
interview with David J about the reunion. He also
talks about their past shows in Germany (hope you
German fans attending the show aren't doing this!)
where fans started fights with Bauhaus roadies,
broke windows of their tour bus and stole their
suitcases. Gilly also sent in scans of the pictures
from the articles, so I'll be putting those up very
soon.
There
are new pictures up - Monica's photos of the
Denver
show and Jenn's photos of the Philadelphia
show. There's also great pictures of the
Detroit
show at Popfolio.
You can see pictures of other bands at the site
too.
There's
also brief reviews of the Washington
DC
show from the Washington Post and Boston Phoenix's
of the Boston
show. I wanted to link to the New York Times review
of the New
York
show, but the site was hacked last Sunday (no
search engine working at the mo') and there's a fee
for looking at older articles... ptooey.
SEPTEMBER
18
Bauhaus reportedly recorded two songs in
Atlanta
at Southern Tracks, one of them Severance,
but the second song I've got no word
on...
SEPTEMBER
17 Reuters
has an interview with Peter Murphy, in it you'll
find his views on Marilyn Manson and also the
future of Bauhaus.
``I think we've got albums in us, still -- lots of
albums if we were to choose that,'' [Peter]
says. ``It's all there, bubbling under, screaming
to get out.''
SEPTEMBER
16 The
venues and dates for the Portugal shows have
changed: November 14 in Lisbon
at the Multiusos Pavilion (an 8,000 person venue
and also the site for the World Expo 1998) and
November 15 in Oporto
at the Oporto Coliseum.
For
the Vienna
show October 24th, tickets can be obtained by
calling Österreich Ticket Express at
+43.1.1793 or you can check out their
web
site and
order tickets at: tex@oe-ticket.co.at
SEPTEMBER
15 If
you haven't made it over to Bauhausmusik,
the official site, go visit. Word has it the
"Undertaker" of the Telegram-Sam
newsletter (and no, it's not run by me!) is an
illustrious and verbose member of the band...
Expect some more surprises later on in the
week.
My
apologies to those who've sent reviews of the shows
- I'm still catching up around here.
Quite
a few people have wondered about the swirling
pre-show music - it's Semazen Haken Polat Sufi
Music of Turkye Vol. 5. Unfortunately, I have no
idea where it can be obtained. If you know, pass
the word on. Also, the introduction music of the
show itself is an unreleased piece Ivo
Watts-Russell of the 4AD label did for his new
project The Hope Blister. Unfortunately, this is
not commercially available.
SEPTEMBER
14 Your
favorite webmistress has finally made it home...
New
York,
in a word, was spectacular! What more could we ask
for when we thought the show was ending, and we
received a 4th encore with The Passenger. If
you've been following the setlists, you'd know this
is the first time that a fourth encore has been
performed. Also a reminder - the New York shows
were recorded for a live video to be officially
released, so I hoped you all looked your
best.
I
regret to tell you that amongst other things and
too many drinks, yours truly was knocked off her
high horse due to losing several arm wrestling
matches to Danny after the show.
There
are more confirmed European dates now:
October
23 - Prague,
Czech Republic
at Lucerna Hall
October 27 - Milan,
Italy
at Rolling Stone
November 3 - Deinze,
Belgium
at Brielpoort
The
venues for the Barcelona
and Valencia
shows are Zeleste and Auditorium Arena,
respectively. Again, you can see all the dates
available on the tour page bar to your
left.
SEPTEMBER
12 Trusty
Assistant Reporting:
From
all reports, it was a great show last night in
New
York,
much improved from the previous night (four encores
in all!)
In
other news, this page is now (in)famous, having
gained a mention in the popular press at the
Sarasota
Herald-Tribune.
SEPTEMBER
10 Untrusty
Assistant Unreporting:
The
formerly trusty assistant regrets to inform you
that he will also be going out of town for a couple
of days. Samantha will return on the 13th to keep
you Bauhaus news fiends satiated.
In
the meantime, just thought that you might want to
be reminded that you can see dates and venues for
the European and Japanese legs of the tour by
clicking on the Tour
Dates
link in the navigation frame on the
left.
SEPTEMBER
10 Trusty
Assistant Reporting:
Another
show has been confirmed in Europe. This one's in
Vienna,
Austria
on October 24 at Rockhaus Vienna. Doors open at 8
p.m.
SEPTEMBER
9 Trusty
Assistant Reporting:
Samantha
is now in New York, so I'll be keeping the setlists
and things operating as smoothly as possible, but I
don't promise any pithy comments. If you send
email, don't expect it to be answered until next
week.
With
that said, last night's Philadelphia
concert
was a rather short affair compared to recent
efforts. Please check the setlist that I have been
sent to see if it's correct.
SEPTEMBER
7 Finally,
more European dates!
November
1 - Paris, France at La Mutualite - tickets are on
sale (at FNAC, I assume)
November 11 - Barcelona, Spain (venue unknown)
November 12 - Valencia, Spain (venue unknown)
November 14 - Oporto, Portugal at Oporto
Coliseum
November 15 - Lisbon, Portugal at Lisbon
Coliseum
I
don't know when the Portuguese or Spanish venues go
on sale though. If someone happens to find out the
Spanish venues, by all means, let me know. Don't
forget that Lisbon is the last date of the
official tour!
I'll
be leaving tomorrow (September 8) for
New
York,
so the Trusty Assistant will be filling in for me
while I'm on the road. Hope to see you
there!
SEPTEMBER
5 Muzic.com
wrote a trashing review of the second
Toronto
show. They also mentioned how much more relevant
and original Marilyn Manson are as opposed to
Bauhaus. I find it ironic that the reviewer
mentioned a MM song Man That You Fear in
terms of complexity and originality. This sounds
too close in title to In Fear of Fear, don't
you think? Talk about originality.
Also,
Liz found out there is an error on the tickets for
the St.
Petersburg
show. The tickets state that the doors open at 8,
show starts at 9. But according to the Mahaffey
Theater, doors open at 7 and the show starts at 8.
Better early than never!
SEPTEMBER
4 Check
out Phenics'
review of the first Seattle
show, which was the first official date of the
tour.
I
still seem to be getting
multiple queries from people wondering about the
European dates. As I've stated before, I post
all information when I get it. If a
date isn't up (other than Japan, UK and Germany)
then it's because I don't know the dates.
Please, please, please kindly refrain from
asking me if I know the dates yet! Read the past
news for an answer to your query. I guarantee the
answer is in there somewhere : )
SEPTEMBER
3 "If
you can't stand Bauhaus, I suggest you sit down." -
Peter Murphy in Rolling Stone news on
BowieNet.
SEPTEMBER
2 At
last night's Rochester
show, Bauhaus added Iggy Pop's The
Passenger, which appears on Iggy's Lust For
Life album, in their encore!
Correction:
Holy Fool is a song off of Love and Rockets'
new album while the new Peter Murphy song is Big
Love of a Tiny Fool. Thanks to everyone who
shook their finger at me for my foolish mistake. No
pun intended of course.
The
LiveConcerts
webcast won't be shown live unfortunately, due to
the MTV Music Awards. The webcast date has changed
to September 28 and 29 at 9 pm EST.
Rolling
Stone
has some tidbits about the recording session in
Chicago and also says that Bauhaus may record a
full length album, according to the engineer Chris
Shephard, who worked on the session.
SEPTEMBER
1 Several
new updates to older news - the New
York
shows will be recorded for the live video that was
mentioned previously. The shows will also be
webcast on LiveConcerts
starting at 9.30 EST.
"Who
killed Ziggy?" - I think that most people can
forget the rumors of David Bowie joining in Ziggy
Stardust in New
York,
althought it would make for a sight to behold and
many sleepless nights afterward!
In
response to people's curiosities being piqued about
the Chicago studio session, they played around with
a "experiment" yet unnamed and have no plans at the
moment whether it will be officially recorded or
not. Severance was also included in the
sessions.
Peter's
new EP Recall is slated for an October 27
release. Again, this will include 2 remixes of
Roll Call, a remix of Indigo Eyes,
and two new songs, Holy Fool and
Surrendered, which features the vocals of
Peter's mentor, Shengul. The EP was co-produced by
members of KMFDM.
Also,
the Mexico City show at the Teatro Opera is on sale
for $US25. Tickets are available through
Ticketmaster.
