Bauhaus in the New Millennium
[Unable to display image]
I double dare you to take off your mask and guess for yourselves what's over the horizon waiting for the likes of Bauhaus to refigure, conjure a new and consequently write another song about. If the man with the x-ray eyes is in fear of fear, and Bela Lugosi's dead, and god is somewhere in an alcove, who then can we look to for the answers? Among Lillie's and remains they wait dancing and burning from the inside, they are Daniel Ash, Kevin Haskins, David Jay and Peter Murphy. They are Bauhaus. And they are ready for the new millennium. What awaits them among the crowds, in the silent hedges and above the hollow hills can only be found in the passion of lovers. But who am I to say what lies ahead in the flat field? Probably just more grass.

The one thing the new millennium had BETTER hold is a new Bauhaus LP. The earlier the better. As the euphoria of the Resurrection tour fades, new material would seem to be not only called for but absolutely essential. They've proved that the magic still smolders. Now it's time for some rocket fuel on the embers.

The first event will be a 365 date millennium world tour, featuring bauhaus, love and rockets, peter murphy solo and possibly even tones on tail! This will be to celebrate 20 odd years of rock & roll. A new Ep will be released in conjunction as well as an album featuring new versions & remixes of old material. David j will be made honorary professor of music at Boston University, Peter will become the king of Turkey, Kevin will start up a drum school & danny will be the new evil kneivel.

This is what I see the "new millennium" offering for Bauhaus: HOPE.

From: Tina Calderone and Jean Rebholz

After having our spirits lifted by being able to see the Resurrection Tour come to fruition, we (Tina and Jean) could only hope that a new spirit will arise in response to such an extraordinary event.
We were moved not only by being able to witness David, Daniel, Kevin and Pete resolve their differences, but also to see, hear, and be touched by the growth of their musicianship and their willingness to share this with everyone once again.
In our hearts, the tour had proven to the masses the never ceasing relevence of Bauhaus' music and, ultimately, showcased that there is still hope for the rebirth of a new spirit of Bauhaus.
Cheers to el espiritu nuevo!

I think that in the twenty-first century, Bauhaus will be very vital to goth rock as they have been for the past twenty years or so (they practically invented it!). With interest in goth rock on the rise, people will want to hear what the original bands can do today. The generation of the twenty-first century will more than likely want to hear the originals! Besides, creepy is becoming cool

Bauhaus 2000 = opposing fakers,
shooting nostalgia in the back,
dancing on rock'n'roll's grave,
hugging your skinny bones,
playing games with your pain,
standing on charisma again,
acting your reaction,
lurking lipstick tickle tickle,
waiting in the wings,
changing the lows to highs,
and making the most of a million times no.
